Honolulu restaurants
Hello all,
In mid-February I will be spending 4 days in Kahala and 3 days in Waikiki. I'm in the process of choosing some restaurants. I'll most likely eat 2 meals at the Kahala Resort, leaving 5 open dinners. On my list so far are: Roys Waikiki, Michel's, Alan Wong's, and Diamond Head Grill. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good Chinese restaurant and/or a good Italian restaurant? Would also be interested in some suggestions for a less expensive, more casual restaurant. Thanks for your help! |
Arancino's Italian on BeachWalk is a casual place with great food.

tom42: We spend two weeks on Oahu every April. Our last night is always our splurge night and we go to John Dominis. Terrific food and view, but a little pricey ($100-$150 per couple). Our favorite for casual and less expensive is La Mariana, a tiki bar and restaurant on Sand Island. Our other must visits each year are The Shorebird at the Outrigger Reef and Duke's. Our favorite Chinese restaurant is the Asia Manoa Restaurant in the Manoa district.

As far as a good Chinese restaurant that would be in relative proximity to where you're staying and is easy to find, I like Royal Garden at the Ala Moana hotel.

Arancino's is ~$60-80 per couple (2 drinks/wine, 2 entree, 1 appetizer). The antipasto plate, shrimp pizza, caesar salad, crab pasta, meatballs are all specialties. It's a fun busy atmosphere, tables are close together (eat early if you want to go there as you'll find a line on the sidewalk later most evenings).

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look into them.
