Honolulu recommendations
What "must dos" are there in Honolulu for a 6 day trip to Honolulu? We are a family with 2 teen girls. We will be in Oahu the entire time. We would appreciate any suggestions.

Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay (unless you find somewhere better - but Hanauma Bay is easiest for tourists and fantastic).
Walking on Lanikai Beach (east side of Oahu). Gets you way out of Honolulu/Waikiki and shows you a very different Oahu. Pearl Harbor. |
What do you like to do when on vacation? There's a LOT to do on Oahu, if you have seen dusty's list.
One thing you might consider is taking surf lessons, that might be fun for the family. Climb Diamond Head (morning) before you go to Hanauma Bay. When will you be here? Check the calendar at www.gohawaii.com to see what's going on while you are in town. |
rent a convertible for the day and drive to the North Shore. Visit Wameia Falls park (not sure of spelling) and have lunch from giovanni's shrimp truck in Halweia.

One thing we enjoyed was horseback riding on the north shore.. I will see if I can find a link to the place we went. Lovely horses, well cared for - we had our four children with us - at the time 2 of them were teens - and they liked it.
The other thing they actually really enjoyed was a morning at the flea market! |

Thank you so much for all the helpful ideas! We will be there in mid January and want a combination of activities and relaxation. We will be renting a car so can certainly leave the Honolulu area. We are so excited about going and want to make the best of our time. We know 6 days isn't very long. I will research all the ideas received so far. Again, thanks!
