Honolulu parking

Hello again.

Where do you park your rental vehicle? Hotel parking is expensive. Are there any parking garages to choose from that charge reasonable rates? Plan on renting a car for just two days. Should we perhaps return the car to the agency at the end of each day?

Thank you.

What hotel and how expensive is "expensive?"

Are you talking about in Waikiki? There are not that many dedicated parking garages, so your hotel will be about as cheap as it gets. There is street parking, but you'll have to do some serious cruising to find a space that a) is not metered, and b) does not have tow away periods.

I would think you'd just pay to park it at your hotel. Parking is scarce in Waikiki, that's why it's so expensive.

There is at least one parking garage in Waikiki which is situated across the street from the Hale Koa and the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

I've only paid the Hale Koa rate which was way less than $10 a day and I suspect others were paying a LOT more than that.

Unless you will be a guest at the Hale koa, that will be about the most expensive parking anywhere in Waikiki. Plus, they fill up a lot of times.

I would think it also depends on if you feel it is worth standing in line two days in a row for a car or pay $10-15 to park it overnight.

Thank you, hulajake, for responding to likeitornot.

This is our first time to Honolulu; just looking for the best way to go about renting a car for 2 days. We're staying at Waikiki Prince Kuhio. Sounds like our best bet is to park in the hotel.

Thank you for your suggestions (except for likeitornot).

Can non military (other than Hale Koa guests of military) park at Fort DeRussey garage mentioned above?

I don't think you can park there overnight, but you can park there to go to functions at the Hale Koa.

I recently read about the lot down by the Zoo with 4 hour parking meters; but if you use it be sure to pay up, they are strict & give out expensive tickets.
