Honolulu hotel advice. Best value for $200
Hi,
Going to Honolulu for one week in February, 2009. Would like a hotel near Waikiki with a nice size room and maybe a good view. Looking to spend $200-300 per night. Will be renting a car so easy parking would be nice also. Thanks in advance. |
Be aware of the additional cost for parking in Waikiki:

Almost all hotels on Oahu are in Waikiki.
Waikiki is a strip about 2 miles long & 3-4 blocks wide. The beach runs almost the entire length of Waikiki. There are shops, restaurants located throughout Waikiki. So no matter where you are in Waikiki, you are not far from anything. How many people? Resortquest Waikiki Banyan is well under $200 with $10/day parking. Several other Resortquest hotels & condos. www.resortquesthawaii.com Parking rates are usually around $15 - $25 daily. Lots of good deals on www.vrbo.com Many of the units include free parking. You can compare hotels & prices on: http://www.wizardpub.com/oahu/oahaerials.html No need to book through them if you don't want. You can possibly get better rates on other sites. But it will give you an idea of what the hotels have to offer & where they are. www.visit-oahu.com Free brochure. I like Queen Kapiolani Hotel. For that price you can get a large room high up in the hotel. There's views either of DiamondHead or Waikiki/the ocean.
New Otani is also very nice and sits at the quieter part of Waikiki. It's higher priced than Queen Kap so you'd get a smaller but nicer room for the price. It does not have a pool if this is important to you. As already clarified the majority of hotels AREe right in or near Waikiki, so that's not really a restriction. |
I loved the Hilton Hawaiian Village -- great beach plus lots of restaurants, shops and pools. You can catch a sale for $229, but it also turns up on Priceline pretty frequently.
