Honolulu GTG October 17.......
 

All right. It's time. Monica Pileggi returns to visit her island home on Oahu so we are having a GTG on Monday, October 17, 6:30 p.m. at Tiki's Bar & Grill in Waikiki. Please RSVP here so that I can make the appropriate reservations (and maybe get some dang luggage tags). Let me know if you'll be bringing a guest.

For those of you who miss this GTG, don't throw yourself into a nearby volcano! We'll have another GTG in December when the Kals come (look for that invite under a different thread later).

OK this is pretty funny but the people who rsvp'd no directly to me so far can't make it because they'll be travelling! Go fodorites!

Yup, sorry guys. Any night with school the next day is out for me - just too much to do to get her ready for the next day.

However, it sounds like the next GTG will be during her Christmas break, so hopefully I'll be able to make that one.

Melissa and I emailed each other today. I told her that Tony and I could do the dinner get together on Saturday the 15th, which may make things easier for everyone. Please let us know if you can attend! Same place/time!!

Darn, missed by a month, just got home last night, had to stop in Waikiki due to "Rita" messing up flights ...

Looks like Saturday may be more of a winner. As monica pointed out, we can sleep in on Sunday! (Well, not me--I need to run about 14 miles on Sundays but it's OK.) ;)

Tony and I will be on the Big Island after our visit to Oahu, but won't be visiting Hilo. Will be spending 1 night at the Kilauea Military Camp at the vol. nat. park; then 5 nights in Kona at the Outrigger Keauhou Resort.

monica-you'll love the outrigger keahou, make sure to snorkel at the beach to the right of the hotel, just past the snack bar beach shack, always turtles there

Ohh, sorry no peetchas. Only had me, Monica, and Monica's husband. Everyone else wen shaft!

But the three of you got together in Hawaii, and that's wonderful, and I'm jealous, even not seeing 'peetchas.' :-) Aloha ... ((r))

True! We had an awesome lanai table at Tiki's, overlooking the beach. The manager came to greet us and we had a coupon for free kalua pig quesadillas. Fantastic! Went well with the couple's mai tais, as I sipped a drink that was like a creamsicle with vodka.

Then we talked about dysfunction, men becoming women, and what other Fodorites look like.

That creamsicle drink sounds delicous! Think you can come up with a recipe?....It might help make up for no pics! ((d));;)

oh, man! That's a tall order. I will call the restaurant because webtender.com does NOT have this in its file.....at least, not the one that I drank.....

OSB, I think it may be called a cream sickle...I used to have them when I was a youngin like MelissaHI....

osb, this may be it...but I have seen others made with Bailey's

Creamsicle
Spirit: Vodka Bar Drinks
Ingredients: 1/2 ounce vodka
1/2 ounce Triple Sec -- or
Cointreau
1/2 ounce orange juice
1 scoop vanilla ice cream

Instructions: Add all ingredients in blender and blend at high speed until smooth, about 30 seconds. Serve with straw in dessert or cocktail glass.
Tastes just like a Dreamsicle!

Servings: 1
Difficulty: Simple
Strength: Regular
Glass Type: Cocktail
Occasion: Any

Tony and I had a great evening with Melissa. Thanks for taking the time to come out and see us. I loooved the kalua pig quesadillas. In fact, we ate there for lunch on our last day. Yum!
