Honolulu and Kauai

Our son/daughter-in law will spend their honeymoon in Honolulu and somewhere on the island of Kauai (split the trip).
Please give us the name of the most romantic place to stay in Honolulu, and in Kauai.

For Kauai, I recommend the Hyatt Regency on Poipu Beach. The rates are high, but you can get elite stay certificates for $249 (look on their website). The Hyatt remains one of my all-time favorite resorts.

Kauai: Grand Hyatt Poipu. Or the Princeville Resort if they'll be on the North Shore.

Old Moana Surfrider or the Royal Hawaiian for Waikiki

Grand Hyatt on Poipu Beach is the best in Kauai. Check out their Sunshine on Sale package, stay 5 nights and get one free, plus wonderful buffet breakfast at the Seaview terrace daily.

While the Hyatt in Poipu may be the best hotel on Kauai, the lush scenery surrounding the Princeville is infinitely prettier than anything in Poipu. Note, however, that Poipu is far drier, a possible concern during the Hawaiian winter.

I second the vote for the Moana Surfrider, a storied hotel on a beautiful patch of sand.

Read the reviews at TripAdvisor about the Halekulani; I would recommend the Moana as well but with the proviso that they get a room in the newer tower (oceanfront).

In Honolulu the Halekulani for sure ;;as for Kauai, I would recommend either Hanalei Bay Resort or better yet a nice vacation home on the North Shore..check out www.800hawaii.com
great places or better yet call the owner George for recommendations and tell them I referred you (James)..

just wanted to add that i felt the poipu area was more convenient for what we wanted to do.......are they more into sitting by the pool or do they want to explore kuaui???

For a honeymoon on Oahu, I would recommend the north shore Turtle Bay Hilton or renting a beach house in Kailua.
Honolulu and Waikiki are VERY CROWDED! It wouldn't be my idea of romantic. They can do a day trip into Honolulu, see Pearl Harbor and have a drink on the terrace of the Moana Surfrider. IMHO, the beaches are more beautiful in Kailua and in the North Shore.

Have never been to Kauai, but have heard that the Princeville is amazing and very romantic!

On Kauai I stayed at Hale O Wailele. This is a luxurious private cottage in the hills above Kapaa set on a tropical flower farm. It is totally private and has a hot tub and pool with waterfall.
