There are 4 museums at the Visitors Center.

USS Arizona Memorial - Museum is right at the Visitors Center. The Memorial requires a shuttle from the Visitors Center.

USS Missouri - shuttle from Visitors Center.

USS Bowfin (submarine) right at the Visitors Center.

Pacific Aviation Museum - shuttle from Visitors Center.

Visitors Center is open until 5pm.

But the last tour for USS Arizona Memorial is at 3pm. So you will not be able to see the film or take the ferry to or from the memorial.

But the Visitors Center is also the main museum & is free. So you will be able to see the artifacts. Also go through the Visitors Center to the back lawn for more artifacts & the Circle of Remembrance.

The back lawn is also a great photo-op for USS Arizona Memorial, USS Missouri & USS Bowfin.

You can also go toward the USS Bowfin ticket office. There is a submarine memorial area outside the ticket office (free).

The bus will be a good option. But you might want to take a cab there & take the bus back to give you more time at the Visitors Center.

It is only about 3 miles from airport to Visitors Center. So a cab will be $15 or so.

There are only a few stops between airport & the Visitors Center, so it will only take 10 minutes or so plus waiting time for the bus.

I think the bus stops at the upper level (departures). But I am not sure. So you would have to take the escalator up. The cabs will be outside the baggage area (lower level) arrivals.

Bus is $2.50 each way. Have the correct $$.

You may have time for the Visitors Center & USS Missouri or USS Bowfin.

USS Arizona Memorial tour (film & ferry to & from the memorial & about 15 minutes on the memorial) is free. (only mentioning this for other readers as you won't make it in time)

USS Missouri about $20 each. They have later tours so you might make it.

USS Bowfin about $10 for the museum. Another $5 if you want to go on the submarine. You will have time.

You won't have time for Pacific Aviation Musueum. Would be about $15-$20.

Don't let the fact that you won't be able to go on the USS Memorial deter you from going to the Visitors Center. It is really nice at the Visitors Center even without going on the memorial.

If you take the bus from the airport, make sure you take the #20 to Pearlridge.

On the way back, take the #20 toward Ala Moana Center or Waikiki. Get off at the airport.

You don't mention if your forward flight is international or domestic. In any case, these days you must give yourself more than enough time first to get back to the airport, then to go through security. The TSA lines can be quite long at certain times, so don't cut it too close. Nothing worse than waving goodbye to your plane because you didn't get to the gate in time.

That being said, your best bet to save time may be to taxi at least to Pearl Harbor. You can gauge whether you need to taxi back or have time to catch the bus as you go through the visitor's center.

Our bus system, by the way, is excellent.

Thank you, Leburta! we will be going back to Los Angeles Airport! Domestic I hope!

Good points!

It sounds like you have your heart set on Pearl Harbor, but please keep in mind, you sound really rushed for time. If you flight arrives at the gate at 3pm, you won't get out of the airport for at least half an hour, if not more. Do you have to claim any luggage? Some of the airport shuttle guys might be able to help speed up your exit from the airport, but be careful, some are a total rip off. We used Royal Hawaiian tour for our last trip and they were overpriced and really rude. It was a total rip off. If i have one suggestion, don't use these guys, there are other companies out there that will do a great job, for a much better price. Good Luck

While I agree that 'The Bus' is an excellent system of public transportation, with such a tight timeframe I'd probably spring for a taxi both directions just to make sure you can fit in what you want to do and be back at the airport in sufficient time for your onward flight.

The Bus doesn't accept luggage.

Make sure your luggage is checked through to your next destination or in storage.

Yes of course, since they used the word "layover" I assumed the luggage was checked thru, and not that they'd be taking it with them on the Pearl Harbor tour.
