Honolulu: 2007 "Good Deal" Hotels Near Beach...?
Not really the best area to stay in if you want tranquility, in general.

I second (or third) the HHV. It's a really great place to stay. I've been there twice, both times in the Ali'i Tower (which is extra bucks) but I'd be happy just about anywhere on the grounds of the HHV. I'm sure you can save money in one of the towers that is farther from the beach, but still in their lovely tropical setting.
