Honlulu taxi
Is a taxi the best way to get from the airport to the Marriott Waikiki Beach Hotel and if so does anyone have an idea of the cost?
|
The set taxi fare for airport-to-Waikiki is $25 (1-4 passengers).
There is a shuttle bus which runs from the airport to various Waikiki hotels, departing the airport about every 30 minutes. For a full list of transport options from Honolulu Airport, see this site: http://www.hawaii.gov/dot/airports/o...ound_trans.htm |
Auntie, is it really a "set" fare ? We rode in last September from airport to Waikiki (Kuhio and Kalakau by Keo's), on the meter, lots of traffic, was about $35. Going back on shuttle van was about $8 each.
Should we have disputed the meter usage with the driver ? |
We used the Waikiki Airport Express bus, round trip for $14 per person. It runs about every 20 minutes.

I used the Waikiki Shuttle mentioned above. It was $8 one-way last February. The trip may take a little longer because the bus loops thru Waikiki, stopping at the various hotels, dropping folks off. So depending your hotel location on the route could be quick or could take a little longer.

We were lucky in that our hotel was the second stop.

pspercy:
Next time when you catch a cab at the airport, ask the cab-manager person what the fare is to your hotel (s/he is the one who orders up the cabs and loads passengers in sequence), and ask him/her to convey that price to the cab driver. Cab service on O`ahu is regulated, but there are always "pirates" in any tourist area. :-) |
