Honeymoon/Texas Wildflower Tour
Looking to help retired friends plan their honeymoon in Texas. They would like to spend the first week in April on a wildflower driving tour. They are considering flying in and out of San Antonio. Does anyone have suggestions for a possible itinerary and places to stay along the way? They will have about 9 or 10 days and are interested in staying at bed & breakfast inns. Thanks for any ideas you may be able to share!

We are having a very very very warm winter. If I were your friends, I would call someone knowledgable - maybe at the Lady Bird Johnson wildflower center - and ask if they think the wild flowers will bloom earlier than usual this year. Early April may be too late for the blue bonnets that far south.

Your friends should look into staying in Fredericksburg because there are many B and Bs there. A helpful reservation service is Gastehaus Schmidt. I have personally used this reputable company and have never been disappointed.

Just outside Fredericksburg is the Willow City Loop. It is just a dirt road going through people's private property but the view is spectacular and you get an added benefit of roadrunners and other creatures you don't see normally.
