Honeymoon perks at Kea Lani?

We're in the process of booking our honeymoon at the Kea Lani in Maui. Do you know if honeymooners get room upgrades? Would you recommend booking a gardenview room and hope for a oceanview upgrade?

Do they do anything else special for honeymooners? (bottle of champagne in the room, maybe??)

Most all the hotels have standard honeymoon packages. Check their website.
But there's nothing they give away routinely. They'll often upgrade for free IF the hotel's not sold out. But if you're there when it's busy, no luck.
When are you going?

We're going in May 2003.

I was there in June on my honeymoon. The Kea Lani was at capacity and received no upgrade from them. There is construction going next door to the Kea Lani. The garden view rooms are privately situated but right next to road the construction vehicles use it is very noisy. We moved to mountain view room where it was quiter. I believe May is slower than June, but I would recommend biting the bullet and paying for the ocean view room. I wouldn't risk getting stuck with the noise. They did give us a bottle of champagne.

Is there really a big difference between garden & oceanview?? (assuming of course, there isn't any construction)

I think we'll probably just book the garden view and keep our fingers crossed.

I have the same question. We'll be checking in on Sept 9. Will there be a possibility of upgrading?

Bryan and Samantha are asking people here to tell them whether the Kea Lani will be at capacity in May and September.
People here can't possibly know that.
They're both unpredictable months with Sept better than May.

Brian will be have better luck upgrading because of his dates. Travel is expected to be slow over September 11th so he has a great chance of being upgraded. Call the hotel now and let them know it is your honeymoon. Also, fax 48 hours ahead of time and remind the front desk person when you are checking in. If they have upgrades available, you have a great chance of getting one. Samantha, on the other hand, is traveling during a peak wedding and honeymoon time. You may have a harder time getting an upgrade because so many people there are on their honeymoons and they tend to pay for upgrades.
