Honeymoon out West

My daughter is getting married in October and is thinking of a honeymoon for aprox 7 days in Wyoming or Montana. They would rent a car. Any suggestions for an itinerary taking in Yellowstone National Park would be appreciated.

Where is the point of origin for the trip? Will it end at the same place, like a loop? Fall is a beautiful time in the mountains, but the high country of Yellowstone begins to see some snowfall as October wears on, too.

Jim is right, October in the higher elevations in Yellowstone could be "dicy". Some of the higher roads such as Bearstooth could be closed.

If you would respond to Jim's request about point of origin, perhaps we could help further.

My daughter has not made air reservations yet. She would be coming from Nashville and could do a loop, but I imagine it would be better to fly into one city and home from another to avoid backtracking. What those cities would be, I'm not sure -- maybe Jackson would be one. Thanks for the information about the possibility of bad weather at the higher elevations -- we hadn't thought of that. She would be leaving on October 21st. Maybe a more southerly itinerary would be better -- one that would take in the Grand Canyon since they seem interesting in doing one of the parks.

Jackson, WY is a great place. But the weather is a factor. (By the way, I Got married and honeymooned in Jackson many, many years ago. in December.) Grand Canyon is a good option. Or they could fly into Salt Lake, and drive to Moab to see Arches, drive down to Canyonlands, then down to Monument Valley. Bad thing about that is the long (but beautiful) drive back to Salt Lake. To me, I prefer this area over the Grand Canyon. Let me know what their interests are.
