Honeymoon night in Seattle
 

My fiance and I are getting married in 3 weeks and are looking for the most romantic hotel to spend our wedding night in. We've heard the edgewater and Hotel Monaco (although it doesn't have a view). Can anyone comment on these or give other suggestions? Thank you!

I don't know Seattle hotels at all, but I use two sites to find great luxury hotels worldwide: Leading Hotels of the World (lhw.com) and Small Luxury Hotels of the World (slh..com). The latter has a hotel in Bellevue Washington (about 10 miles outside Seattle). It looks very nice and it appears they have a huge spa and health club facility, may be good for recovering from wedding stress!. No views that I can tell from the pictures.

The Edgewater hotel looks great from its website, wonderful views.

Hi, I've stayed at the Monaco and it isn't romantic. I don't know about the Edgewater. Inn at the Market, Alexis, and The Sorento are usually considered to be romantic, but I haven't stayed at any of them (I live here). My suggestion--go to a big bookstore and read what Frommer's Washington State book and Northwest Best Places have to say on this topic.

Although it is a big business hotel, I think the Elliott Grand Hyatt on Pine Street is tough to beat. It has a subdued and very elgant aesthetic, the rooms are large and incredibly plush, the floor to ceiling windows offer an incredible view of downtown and the harbor if you're on an upper floor on the correct side of the building and there's a pushbutton control by the bed for a motorized black-out drape that totally darkens the room. Also - the bathrooms are huge marble affairs with an enormous glass shower and a full size soaking tub.

Have not stayed at the Monaco but stayed at their sister property the Vintage Court (or is it Vintage Park?). No good views available there but it's a Klimpton Group property and they typically have lovely, intimate settings with a very friendly staff - can't go wrong with either.

I'd say Inn at the Market.

Market/bay view room at the Inn at the Market; any suite at the Fairmont Olympic; bay view room at the Sorrento; superior room at the Alexis; maybe an over-the-water room at the Edgewater (otherwise skip it). Out of the downtown area, consider the Woodmark on Lake Washington in Kirkland, or a room at the Salish Inn overlooking Snoqualmie Falls. (Rent a video of "Twin Peaks" for a look at the place in another time.)

i live in seattle. i'd suggest inn at the market as well. there's a fun trendy restaurant right there on post alley (suggest reservations) they have local performers and sometimes belly dancers at night. also if you can get dinner/theatre tickets for teatro zinzanni you will be pleased. it's a fun and unique experience (they book way in advance, check their website). have fun!

oops, forgot, the restaurant i mentioned above is called the pink door.

I can't answer your question directly, having only stayed at the Inn at the Market, but I can say that we liked the Inn very much and found it romantic. We had a market and water view room, which was really nice--we could lounge and watch traffic on the bay and people in the market, the bed was very plush and comfy, the bath was lovely, and most importantly, the staff were extremely friendly and accomodating. We bought flowers at the market for our room and felt pampered indeed.
Wherever you stay, do try the Pink Door for dinner, it's great!

I'm glad to see others agree about Inn at the Market, but I'm surprised about the Pink Door's popularity. Maybe it goes down well with out-of-towners, but I think that, except for its deck at lunch, the place doesn't have much to offer.

I agree with Gardyloo--if you want romantic and have transportation, I'd stay at the Woodmark or Salish Inn.

The Edgewater Hotel is very romantic!! We spent three nights there and will definitely return. You will be truly pampered. We had the package with the breakfast each morning. It was fantastic with beautiful views of the water from everywhere at this hotel. ***kim***
