Honeymoon in Wine Country
Hi all,
My fiancee and I are planning our honeymoon. We've decided to go to the Napa and/or Sonoma regions to relax, take in some winery tastings and tours, and sightsee. Does anyone have any "must dos" or can anyone recommend romantic locations to stay? We'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance! |
It helps to know when you will be coming to wine country, how long you plan to stay and your budget (e.g., how much you're willing to spend on lodging per day).

In Sonoma, we loved our stays at the Sonoma Mission Inn in Boyes Hot Springs. Yountville in the Napa Valley is a very nice place to stay, we have enjoyed stays at the Yountville Inn in the past and will try the Villagio this Spring. You will be close to many nice places to dine in Yountville and St. Helena. ***kim*** ((*))

Hey WM,
We'll be arriving on October 14-15 (approximately) and we want to spend about a week. I figure to spend no more than $250 per night if possible. |
Hi Kimamom,
The Sonoma Mission Inn looks beautiful, but a bit pricey for my budget. My fault for not mentioning my range at first. Wow though...it looks great! The Yountville Inn looks a little more moderately-priced and may be an option. Thanks so much for your input. |
We stayed at Embassy Suites - it was amazing. Great breakfast included and a really nice happy hour. They make & serve their own wine I believe. Great courtyard where they grow herbs etc.
We paid around $160/night. Book a reservation (now) for TraVigne or French Laundry - both are well worth the splurge - go for lunch if you don't want to break the bank. Also Dean & Deluca have a great deli counter where you can pick up sandwiches and drinks and go off on a picnic. We also did the wine train, which is a bit touristy - but I loved it. A great way to see the whole valley - and upgrade to first class if you do it - the view from up above is amazing. Have fun! |
Congratulations on your up-coming nuptials ! You are wise to plan ahead as Oct is a busy and quite beautilful time of year up here.

Come back with more questions- also, type in LLindaC in the search box -she had fabulous trip-reports and terrific winery advice for this area ! R5 |
You're welcome, Person X! If you decide on the Yountville Inn, request a room downstairs, there are French Doors that open out to a patio which are nice. We were once put in an upstairs room and requested to be moved, which they gladly did. :)
You will find the pool area there very nice, the pool is nicely heated and there is a jacuzzi, utilize your concierge service and be sure to ask for complimentary passes to local wineries, we were given several. The breakfast buffet set out in the morning is also very good at the Yountville Inn. Great place! ***kim*** ((f)) |
