Honeymoon in Vegas

Hi

As part of our West Coast honeymoon trip we are spending 4 nights in Vegas. We were thinking on staying at Bellagio but I've heard some bad reports about their customer service.

Can anyone suggest where would be a good place to stay?

Thanks

Martin

Go to www.tripadvisor.com it lists comments for most hotels by people who have stayed there.

Curious where you read bad reports about Bellagio. I think the consensus on this board has been it is still one of the better places to stay in Vegas. Although some, myself included, think it has slipped since the change in ownership and Steve Wynn's departure, it is still better than many of the other Vegas options. (The construction taking place on the new tower may be having an impact on the enjoyment of some.)

From my own experience, the only time we had a really bad problem with Bellagio's customer service was in November of 2001. After 9/11 they, and every other Vegas hotel, cut staff and weren't able to handle the rebound in traffic. However, on 3 subsequent visits, things were at least back to normal.

If you thinking about Bellagio, many would likely say similar properties would be the Venetian and the Four Seasons at Mandalay Bay.

Every hotel in Vegas has its fans and detractors, and it positives and negatives. At the end of the day, it is really just a matter of preference.

BTW, if you are in your mid to late 20's and are looking for more a party type scene with people your age group, you might want to look into The Palms. While not on the Strip, it is definately geared more towards a younger crowd, whereas Bellagio is aimed at an older age bracket.

It was tripadvisor I saw some bad reviews for Bellagio on.
We are mid-twenties. Looking for somewhere in the heart of Vegas (i.e the strip) but where the room will be quiet (for Vegas standards) and honeymoon-like.

Thanks

If you want to be in vegas but feel like you are away from all the crowds try the Four Seasons - it's part of Mandalay Bay (rooms on the top floors) but separate entrance, separate pool, etc. it's service is just the BEST. you can still use Mandalay Bay facilities!!! don't have to walk thru casino to get to rooms...easy to get to pool area and back to lobby...other vegas hotels make you walk and walk and walk to get anywhere!!! it's at the start of the stip - opposite end from venetion - but cabs are easy to come by in lobby - no lines!!! i would HIGHLY recommend it!!! we were just there and got a suite for price of regular room!! $225/night!!!

All the rooms will be comparably quiet at the better hotels. Not sure what you mean by "honeymoon like"? A standard room anywhere is just a room with a bed, maybe a view, and possibly a pretty nice bathroom. Salone Suites are nice at Bellagio as well as some of the PAris suites (Calais?).

As for service, the Four Seasons will probably be the best. Places like Bellagio, Mandalay, Venetian are all kinda the same, though I was impressed with Caesars last time out. If you consider Caesars, go for a Palace Tower room and try for an upgrade to a suite.

HI and we stayed at both Bellagio and Venetian for our honeymoon last year. At the Venetian, we told them we were on our honeymoon and they upgraded us to a "HUGE" suite with a glorious bathroom and a living room. We had a lake view suite room at Bellagio, but the room wasn't nearly as nice as the Venetian. There were long lines at check in at Bellagio as well as Venetian, but the service seemed to be about the same at both places. We also stayed at Mirage in a great suite room a few years ago and loved that too. I don't care for Mandalay Bay's location or atmosphere.. If I had to choose, I'd probably go with Venetian, with Bellagio and Mirage as my second choices. Congrats and have fun!!!!

I've stayed at each of the best hotels in LV and when it comes to service (if that's really important for you) the Four Seasons stands head and shoulders above all other hotels in LV. It's just like a FS in any other city when it comes to service. And it has its own separate hotel entrance and a 'hidden door' to Mandalay Bay.

The rooms at the FS didn't overhwelm me compared with the rooms at other FS hotels and compared with the better rooms at other hotels in LV like Venetian (when it was new...I haven't been to Venezia yet) and the better rooms at Bellagio. FS rooms are fine, but they're just not worth twice the rate at Bellagio, for example, which they often run.

If service is not a huge priority, I'd get a nice suite at Bellagio. Or consider trying Venezia. I will also a=say that the suites at the FS would provide the best of both worlds, but the rates won't usually be very competitive.

Service at the casino hotels is just plain spotty at best. How can any hotel adequately cater to 5000 guests at a time? There's no hotel in the world which can pull that off.
The numer of rooms at the FS is less than one tenth that of the bigger casino hotels, and that allows them to do what they do best.

I just got back from a stay at the new Venezia Tower at the Venetian. Very nice suite, although not different size-wise from the other suites at the Venetian, everything looked to be a little higher in quality - and of course brand new. It definitely has a more intimate and romantic feel to it. There is a courtyard and pool area that is reserved for Venezia Tower guests that is pretty cool. Set up like an Italian garden and much smaller and quiet than a typical LV pool area. Location of the Venezia Tower is convenient for those who venture out to the strip a lot but quite inconvenient if you intend to stay at the hotel and gamble most of the time. it's close to the front entrance but a hike to the casino and to the Grand Canal shoppes.
