Honeymoon in May!

We are planning our honeymoon in May. We will be staying 3-4 days at the Hyatt in Kauai. We have points for the room, but wondered what the island is like (laid back, toursistville??) What other island would be good to stay at for another 3 days? Thanks! I love this website!

Do a search under "Kauai" and you will find many responses to this question.

Go to the website below for information on "Kauai nightlife" and it will give you an idea just how laid back Kauai is !

Additional islands you could visit for 3-4 days include Maui or the Big Island of Hawaii. Maui has numerous beaches and a beautiful ((r))rainforest((R)) you can explore by car with many waterfalls and hikes known as "The Road to Hana". The Big Island of Hawaii is the only Hawaiian island with an active volcano, and you may be able to walk up to oozing red hot lava at Volcanoes National Park if conditions are favorable on the day(s) you visit. :S-

Meot - Another island you could include in your honeymoon trip is Oahu. Although it is more crowded & busier than Kauai, there are many things to do there and it is a beautiful island. If you're into "touristy" then Waikiki has it all. If not, then try the north shore or the windward side of the island - both are less congested.

Going to see the erupting volcano on the big island is an outstanding experience. However, it's feasible to do on a day trip by just flying into the Hilo airport and renting a car. Personally, I would pick Maui for an extra few days over the big island - especially since you've got a few days in Kauai. Kauai is gorgeous, but very quiet. The same could be said for the Big Island. Maui will have a lot more activities if you're looking for more of a contrast to quiet Kauai. Maui's got the Road to Hana, Iao Needle, Haleakala National Park, Lahaina Harbor, fabulous spas and restaurants, Molokini Crater, etc.

If you have enough Hyatt points, the Maui Hyatt is really wonderful.
