Honeymoon Help :- ) !
 

Hey all, just recently joined this site and find it fascinating! Maybe someday i'll be traveled enough to post some of my own helpful tips.
I'm right in the midst of planning a 10 day honeymoon trip on the northwest coast (also checking at the northeast- maine if anyone has any good ideas) starting September 9th. My fiance and I are a young couple, early 20's and hoping for some adventure along the lines of beautiful hiking, mountain biking and kayaking. She also mentioned she'd like to stay along some small coastal towns we could bed and breakfast at? I'm thinking we'd like to stay in two or three spots over the course of our trip...
I've checked out the tu tu tun lodge and am impressed, it's a little pricey so we might just stay there for two nights and move on to something cheaper say in the 90-120 range.
If any of you could shoot out some ideas I would really appreciate it!

How about Bar Harbor, Maine! Great little town, amazing hiking, biking and restaurants. Many side trips waiting to be explored!

As far as the Northwest coast and what you like to do, I think Washington State would be ideal. Make sure to go to Lake Crescent. It's a stunningly gorgous area with cabins and all of the things you like to do.

egret- thanks for the help, after your rec. i've cancelled out maine as a possibility and am now just sticking to the northwest.
The big question is, where to stay? I'm hoping to move to be in just two different spots so we aren't always moving around, is there a good base area to do everything from? Also looking for a pretty nice place like the tu tu tun lodge (which is booked) for 2 or 3 nights and a decent place for the other 6 or 7...any thoughts?

We also don't want to have attention completely centered on us with a big "this is our honeymoon" taped to our back ;- )
So we were feeling like B&B's aren't possible?
Trying to do this 10 day trip on a $2,500 budget...is that possible? Plane tix are 500 total so we'd have the other 2,000 for lodging, meals, rental car, exploration etc...

thanks for the tip, I just called the trumpeter and the owner Linda was incredibly kind- looks to be promising!

While tu tu tun is very nice -- I don't see it as the ideal place for a young active couple (more of a place for middle aged couples). Maybe a night or two at the most. I would recommend the San Juan islands -- there are lots of choices there including rental cottages, etc. Here are a couple options you might want to consider:

These could be nice splurge options for a couple of nights -- then do some internet surfing and find a rental cabin that is less expensive for the rest of your honeymoon.

Great kayaying and hiking in the San Juans.

We love Maine -- but since we've experienced the San Juan Islands -- we think the San Juans are even more spectacular.

You could spend time on two islands (San Juan and Orcas) -- and even go over to Victoria for a couple nights for a different experience.

Having traveled to both Bar Harbor, Maine last October and the Oregon Coast (just came back two days ago) My wife and I HAD A GREAT TIME IN BOTH PLACES. Bar Harbor, Maine is a nice Seaside town on Desert Island. NOTE: Bangor, Maine airport is about an hour from Bar Harbor. Many nice restaurants and shops. Arcadia National Park is minutes away and has awesome hiking and bike trails. You could spend many days there and still not see the whole park. If you like lobsters stop by the many Lobster Pounds which will cook you freshly caught lobsters very inexpensivly. You can find out more info on Bar Harbor if you go to Maine, Bar Harbor site on Fodors.com. As for Oregon information we just came back from 5 days exploring Oregon's Southern and Central coast. We stayed in Gold Beach for one night at Jot's Resort and went on Jerry's Jet boat ride up the Rouge river (104 mile round trip) it is a MUST DO TRIP!!!!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME. We then spent 4 nights in Yachts, Oregon at the Adobe Resort. THIS RESORT IS LOCATED RIGHT ON THE BEACH. You could throw a rock to the water from your room. Lots of quiet walks along the ocean from the resort. About 3/4 mile walk from the resort is a beautiful flat sandy beach that extends for miles. The restaurant is ocean front (great views) with very good food, the lounge is great too. Lots of other hiking trails and cool light houses to see within a short drive of the Resort. Florence, Oregon was our favorite Seaside town to visit about 1/2 hour drive from Yachts. Great town with many nice restaurants and shops along the water front. Also, near Florence you can go for a ride on the sand dunes in a FAST DUNE GUGGY we had a great time, ANOTHER MUST DO........ Both Bar Harbor, Maine and the Oregon coast are very nice travel destinations. We will travel to both places again. Hope this helps.
