Honeymoon Help!
Hi, we are going to Hawaii for our honeymoon in January 2003. We are planning on going to Kauai, Maui, the Big Island and maybe one last night in Oahu. We have 12 nights. How would you break it up? We plan on staying in a timeshare at the Marriot in Kauai, Four Seasons in Maui and Big Island. I would love any advice I can get!!!

Just back from a 15 day honeymoon. We did 5 on Kauai, 5 Maui and 5 Big Island. On Big island we spent 2 nights at the volcano teapot inn, right near volcano nat. park, and then 3 nights in Kohala. Truthfully I would skip Oahu altogether if you can, the other islands have so much more to offer. I would do something like 4 or 5 nights each on Kauai and Maui and then spend two at Volcano Teapot. It's so relaxing, an awesome way to end the trip. I'd be happy share anything I can from our experience.

Jess, all I can say is that it would be hard for your new bride and you not to have a great time with 12 nights in Hawaii! Good luck!

thanks! tracey, would love to hear more about your honeymoon. i think i'm going to do 4 nights kaui, 3 nights maui, four nights big island and 1 night oahu. i've heard the most amazing hotel is the four seasons on the big island! but, do tell me more! glad you had fun!

Jess, you might want to carefully plan the order in which you visit the islands to ensure it meshes with what you want from your honeymoon. For our honeymoon in '00, we spent 1 night Oahu, 4 Kauai and 5 Maui, in that order. After Kauai, Maui seemed no different than LA, bustling with activity, which was too much for us. It took us 2 days to get over missing the Marriott on Kauai. Just a suggestion! You'll have fun no matter what

thanks katie! yes, i had taken your point into consideration. we're planning on going to kauai, maui, big island and then the last night on oahu. let me know if you think otherwise.

I agree with Katie... my wife and I finished our Oct '01 honeymoon in Maui after 4 days on BI and 5 on Kauai and Maui was sort of a letdown after the other two. Not that it was bad mind you, we still enjoyed it, but it was just too 'civilized' and seemingly normal compared to Kauai and BI. I would imagine Oahu would be even worse in this regard. I'd start the trip on Oahu and finish up on one of the others.
