honeymoon advice
Hi - I am thinking of going on my honeymoon to Hawaii this May (we'll have 11 nights). We were thinking of doing Maui and Kuaui - does that seem like a good plan? We are interested in mostly relaxing at the beach with maybe a few excursions (volcano, etc.). However, I heard the waves in Hawaii get pretty rough - can you swim in the ocean there? This is very important to us!
Thanks! |
Well, for the volcano you'd have to include Big Island in your plans.
For me, I'd vote Maui for a honeymoon. It's incredibly gorgeous and has a nice balance of relaxation and things to do. |
On our honeymoon, we spent 5 nights on Maui and 4 on Kuaui, and enjoyed both. Mostly relaxed, but did a couple of outings, including snorkeling/kayaking, helicopter tour and Nepali cruise. Maui was a bit more developed, and Kuaui was quieter, but both were great. We didn't spend much time at the beach, but there certainly were people out there in the water. We prefer the Caribbean for beaches, and the Pacific is a bit rougher and the water colder, but as I said there were people out there enjoying the water.

I think Maui and the NORTH shore of Kauai would be very nice. The beaches should be swimmable by then.

We did one week on Maui and one week on Kaua'i for our honeymoon and it was amazing. I think that is a good plan. We split our week on Kaua'i between two hotels (one on the north shore and one on the south shore), to avoid driving back and forth.
