Does anyone have any recommendations of where to stay in Oahu in Feb?

We are looking for a home or condo for a family (of 8) in a relaxing area that does not get a lot of rain. Also, something near or on the beach and walking distance to restaurants (should we want to go out). I know Waikiki has some condos but everything seems so large there- I was looking for something more quaint

Quaint and family of 8 don't go together unless you have a great deal of money to spend.

Hi Sandra. I would suggest Kailua if you want to rent a house and be able to walk to restaurants. I did a quick google for Kailua rental "walk to restaurants" and quite a bit came up--you do have to sort out the Kailua-Kona rentals, that is on the Big Island. Anyhow, this is one example of what came up in that search www.choice1.com/kailua.htm?CID=2353 Also VRBO.com is a good source for rentals. As far as rain in Feb, I do not know and probably no one can predict that but Hawai'i is beuatiful in the rain too :)

Thanks Aloha! I will look into that. I was set on on Maui (western side that gets less rain apparently) but to get there some of the family will need to connect twice--which is hard w/ an infant and toddler. So, seems like going to Oahu might be easiest for everyone at this point in time.

For the type of trip you describe I think it would be worth the extra plane change to go to Maui. I've been to both islands several times. In February there is a pretty high likelihood of rain on windward Oahu, where Kailua is located. I do like Kailua, though, and have stayed there a few times. More sun usually in Waikiki, but it is hardly "quaint" or "relaxing". Most condo complexes are 3-4 blocks back from the beach. With 5 kids in our family, I can tell you that lugging beach gear through the crowded sidewalks and across busy streets is MUCH WORSE than changing planes. Oahu might be easier to get to, but Maui is much easier to be on!
