Homer B&B?
Going to spend a week in Homer last of May. We want to stay fairly close to town. All the websites look and sound good, so Would apprecaite recommendations? Not necessarily looking for the most economical, though don't like to throw money away, either. Thanks

We stayed at Wild Rose B&B, which is three or four very nice cabins up on the hill overlooking Homer and the Homer Spit. It's about five minutes from town by car. Their website is attached to one of the main Homer accommodations websites.

We stayed just out of town at the Magic Canyon Ranch....a very lovely B&B(907-235-6077).Also, I would strongly suggest you take the 1 hour ferry from Homer to Halibut Cove and spend 2 nights at Quiet Place Lodge(907-296-2212) Both the Cove and the Lodge are amazing and unforgettable...this is a slice of Alaska that is really special!

I would second the Magic Canyon. We loved it. It's about 5 miles out of Homer but worth the drive, incredible views, nice people.

With reference to Howard's note about Halibut Cove, we went last May and found that the boat trips to Halibut Cove and Seldovia didn't start till the Labour Day weekend so you will have to check the timing here. We took a short flight (Homer Air) to Seldovia and stayed there for the night - they flew us over a glacier on the way. We liked Seldovia very much.

Just a second to Howard's recommendation to go to Halibut Cove. It is one of our fondest rememberances of Alaska.

Take a day trip to see grizzly bears. The best travel experience we ever had.
