Any tips for finding good airfares to Hawaii in early spring?

Hi all -- Hoping to put together a trip to Hawaii in Feb., March or April....Flexible with timeframe, but want to be there for good whale watching. Would prefer Maui, but airfare is looking quite high. Any creative suggestions? We live in SLC, so checked Vegas or West Coast options, but still pretty steep. Also, would like to find a travel site that can show fares across a wide range of dates. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I booked our air tickets for our February Maui trip in July. Got an ok deal at that point and so far I haven't seen the prices come down much, I'm afraid.

Do you have your hotel/condo booked already? If not, I would look at vacation package deals. Before we bought our timeshare, we went to Maui several times on package deals - Apple Vacations was one of the better ones, if I remember correctly.

Or, try to find an air/hotel/car rental deal through one of the travel websites (Orbitz, Expedia, etc.). On these sites you can also check a little box somewhere for "flexible travel dates" that will give you prices for different travel times.

Whale watching on Maui is incredible! I would try to go in Feb. or March, as they start to migrate back north in April.

Have a wonderful trip - aloha!

I always fly Hawaiian Air (from Seattle). I am on an e-mail list with them, and they send out notices of good deals on a regular basis. I can usually get to Oahu for around $300 (nonstop, roundtrip).

Try comparing different airlines www.flights24.com and flying midweek (flights are generally cheaper then.)

Do you have an Alaskan credit card?? If so you can pay for one ticket & get the 2nd for 99$ From Oakland Calif there is a non stop to Maui. I already have my tickets and husbands & I got my daughters & granddaughters from Seattle. Used miles for my son in law & the supersaver seats were gone so cost lots of miles-cheaper that the plane ticket. Alaska is not a fancy airlines but they are rated pretty high in the travel magazines-Chris
