Holocaust Museum - Tickets
I've tried getting online tickets for the days we'll be in DC, but unfortunately,, there aren't any. Does anyone have experience with getting tickets the day of? Like if we arrive at 8 for tickets, will we have to come back later to see the museum? Trying to figure out how this all works. Any tips/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Availability depends on the time of year. I visited the Holocaust Museum during the second week of September and walked right in--all the families with kids and summer vacationers were gone. Other times you will not be so lucky.

Been there 3 times, had a very short wait each time even tho there were probably hundreds in line before us. If you must wait, there is a free, walk-in exhibit called (I think) "Daniel's Room" (David's?) at ground level, and often a temporary exhibit down below. A Museum Cafe is in a separate building as well - or you could walk to and from the Jefferson Monument.

It is called Daniel's Story; it's the Holocaust as seen from the perspective of a child. Last year, there was a temporary exhibit as rb said; it was about Nazi Propaganda, and it illustrated how it eventually took over German. Very powerful, very disturbing. Tickets are not needed for that exhibit.
