Holocaust Museum - Getting Tickets

We're heading to DC in April and plan to go to the Holocaust Museum. Unfortunately, there aren't any online tickets left for those days. So, can someone please share their experiences with getting tickets the day of? How early do you have to arrive? Is it possible to get tickets and see the museum around the same time, or will you have to leave and return?

There is an echo in here . . .

The only time I have been to the museum, was with my choir and I set up a group tour, so not sure about tickets, we did notice a line formed at the front door as went through the group door.

If you want to see the museum, and it is a day so well spent, it will touch your heart deeply from begining to end, and we came away from the tour actually with hope that it should never happen again.

I'd say call the museum and find out how early you need to get there to get tickets.

Because the topic gets discussed more over on Trip Advisor, you may want to do a search there to see what others have experienced. The threads I briefly looked at seemed to indicate that it was best to get in line early (8am - 9am), especially since D.C. has a LOT of visitors in April. They also noted that they had to return later in the day to visit the Permanent Exhibit. (I think you would be very lucky to get a timed ticket for close to 10am).

Given the time of year, I would get there as early as they let you. It is going to be over-crowded everywhere you go.
