hollywood homes tour??
 

Hi again. Our trip to USA from Australia is less than one week away!! Can't wait!! I have enlisted the help of Fodor's forum to organise our trip and had some very helpful advise so many thanks!! We would like to include a Hollywood homes tour when we are there in mid to late June. It will be my husband, myself and 4 yold daughter. We will be staying on the Miracle Mile and will have our own hire car. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a tour or indeed if we could do a self tour of hollywood homes. We are interested in homes of stars today ot just the older stars. I look forward to having any tips and suggestions from you all!! Also any other ideas for sight seeing would be fabulous!! Soooooooo excited!!!

Most of the tours are totally wrong on who lives where anymore... you will hear a lot of used to's... many old stars used to live on the approved tour routes... today's stars don't live in the route area... many are in gated areas and in remote hills... even if they did live on the route, you see a gate... save your hard earned money... spend some time along Hollywood Blvd, the Farmers Market,Rodeo Drive, and the newly rebuilt Universal Studios... have fun!

I agree, the tours are worthless. Some may be historic - like Tulula Bankhead used to live here, or Eva Gardner etc. But it would be better to take a drive through the Hollywood Hills, Malibu, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive etc and just enjoy seeing the various neighborhoods.

I think I'd do a self tour, but whether you DIY or take a tour you should know that the homes you see are where a star lived at one time but not necessarily now. Most celebrities try hard to keep the location of their current residence a secret, for obvious reasons. You can use the link below to create a tour that uses whatever time you want to devote to this. Whereas, celebrities used to live within a relatively small area, these days they live all over Southern California, many miles apart.
