Hollywood and Highlands
 

Would it be safe to walk around this neighborhood? Most things I've read indicate that the Hollywood neighborhood is not quite safe.

As we don't have a car, we plan on taking the bus tours. Anyone who has gone on these tours before, please share your experience. Thanks.

I think if you are with friends, you should be perfectly fine walking around Hollywood and Highlands at night. There are plenty of people around; tourists etc., and I actually thought it was a lot of fun around there.

I lived in this neighborhood for 12 years. You will be perfectly fine, especially in the shopping complex. As in any strange city, use common sense and caution if you decide to leave the shopping area to walk around.

Hollywood and Highland area is safe if you have a companion. It's a fun place - the Renaissance is nice and the shopping and dining is right there. Try Mel's Diner for breakfast or lunch just steps away. Have fun!

Thanks for all the replies. We would be staying at the Renaissance and would like to walk to the Chinese theater from there. We are with a toddler. Would it be safe for us to walk from the hotel to there?

Zizz, Yes it will be completely safe. The Renaissance is connected to the Chinese Theatre through a shopping mall. You can walk through there or on the streets.
