Holiday Sun-Spree Kauai
Wondering if anyone of the gracious readers have stayed at this property? Using points and cannot find out too much about it. Thanks

We stayed there in the summer of 2000. We found the location excellent. We could travel to the north shore or south shore fairly quickly. This was helpful when we wanted to get an early boat ride to NaPali coast from the south, or to the Waimea Canyon via the south. Or to take a helicoptor ride which left from the airport area. The price of the Sunspree allowed us the financial ability to splurge on boat rides, a great helicoptor ride, and the ability to stay on that enchanted island almost 2 weeks. The adjacent Lydgate beach is a great protected beach for snorkeling. The property was nice, with good service. The east shore area is the not the most attracive part of the island. We found the North shore more magical and would stay there next time if we can afford it.

Stayed there in Jan. 2001. It's a great deal! The rooms are average size and decor, but clean, which is what really matters. They have two pools - neither very big or extravagant, but never seemed very crowded. The restaurant has a great outdoor bar area that's nice for some early evening cocktails. The staff was all very helpful too. The only down side to the hotel was that there were roosters on the property. They "cock a doodle dooed" throughout the day. It was a little annoying at first, but after a while we just had to laugh.

We are also staying at the Sunspree (in December) and could report after that. In the meantime, we too are hoping to see some more responses to this post. In particular any experience with the children's program (taking 7 yr. old daughter).<BR>

Since we did not stay at the Sunspree, I cannot tell you much about except that the location is ideal for touring the island and Lydgate Park (adjacent) has excellent (safe) swimming for children.

Thought place was great not enough leg running around though.
