Holiday Pilgrimage to New York!

Just back from annual sojourn to NYC.

Flew on my Delta pass from LAX-JFK, first class very fast flight. JFK to LAX was laborious with flight delay and fierce headwinds. Used Carmel Limo for both airport transfers, as usual had flawless service.

Stayed at Radio City Apartments (49th between 6th and 7th), booked about 10 months ago at $190 a night which is a real bargain. Had a double double studio ---smallish with a kitchenette. Nothing special but had a nice new bathroom, convenient location. The elevators can be a pain in this building at certain times of the day.

Snow on Sunday, Central Park looked liek a winter wonderland! Freezing (20's) the whole time with wind, more snow on Wednesday. I was very cold the whole time!

My vote for best windows this year: Lord and Taylor, utterly charming.

Enjoyed the Jack Kerouac exhibit at the NY Public Library.

Took 20-something daughter to her first Radio City show, had perfect orchestra seats. Have seen the show many times, there were lots of changes this year and it was quite the spectacle!

Got BroadwayBox tix to Legally Blonde, fantastic seats. A very fun romp, highly enjoyed the fluff.

Saw Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening. It was OK, a nice place to sit and be warm during Wednesday's wet snow.

Christine Ebersole and Billy Stritch at Birdland-wonderful show.

On a whim I got a TKTS seat for Mary Poppins. Had another perfect seat in the orchestra. Loved the show, it was magical. Yes, I am a sap.

Went to NYU Tisch Mainstage to see St. Joan which was expertly acted by the drama students.

Lunch on Upper West Side at Ocean Grill which never disappoints. Quick trip thru Nat'l History Museum to see Water and Mythical Creatures exhibits.

Crammed in Chinatown, Grand Central, Little Italy, Top of the Rock, St. Patrick's for mass, Santaland at Macy's, Greenwich Village, UES, UWS, tons of deli eating, walking, bus and subway riding. No shopping! I may be the only person who comes home from NY empty handed!

The Rock Center Tree's new LED lights may be energy efficient but they are not as dazzling alas.

Big crowds, got a kick out of all the visitors wearing full length fur coats!

Ready to return Dec 1, 2008!

Thanks for the trip report. Don't apologize for "being a sap". Very jealous re:Christine Ebersole!
