Holiday Inn, Georgetown
Hey Everyone:
I got stuck at the Holiday Inn Washington Georgetown, at 2101 Wisconsin Ave NW through PriceLine for a stay next week...I'm REALLY not thrilled with this choice as I hear it's off the beaten path. I tried calling PriceLine and offered them more money for a different hotel but they wouldn't take it :( Does anyone have any advice/thoughts about this particular place, i.e. suggesting a quiet room in a particular area of the hotel to make my stay a little better? Obviously I'm stuck with it now but anything I can do to improve the situation would be fabulous :) As always, thanks! |
Interesting. This hotel has not come up on Biddingfortravel.com. If you know about and use that website, you should post your winning bid so others will know the HI is now a possibility.
While it's not close to the Metro, the buses run frequently on Wisconsin Ave towards downtown DC and the Mall. |
RK, thanks for responding. I've never seen this web site before, and I will definitely be doing some thorough research there before I use PriceLine again as I've had such great luck the past few years but the last couple of times have really been burned.
Does this hotel have any restaurants nearby that I might be able to dine at alone? I usually find one with a decent bar and sit there. Just wondering if that would be a walk or a cab ride, and how frequent cabs would go if that is required. Trip Advisor reports kind of spooked me on this one, to be honest! I appreciate your response. |
I lived in Georgetown over 10 years ago, so I can't give you recommendations. But there are tonnes of restaurants along Wisconsin Ave south of your hotel. It's under a mile from the Holiday Inn to M Street, the heart of G'Town. 15 minutes walk slight downhill, but that means uphill back to the hotel. Or take the bus.

Good to know, thanks. How safe is the bus at night?
I'll be flying in Monday night landing at Reagan around 10 p.m. Best way to get there is by taxi, I would imagine? Thanks (again!) |
Definitely can't say about ANY bus in DC, but those that run along Wisconsin Ave is very safe. It runs through a decent and safe part of DC, and with no Metro, plenty of locals take that bus.
The buses are the 30, 32, 34, 35, 36 Pennsylvania Ave line. You can download schedule and route map at: www.wmata.com/timetables/dc/30-36.pdf Yes, taxi from airport to hotel is probably the best idea. |
Hey I appreciate the help. Have a great night! Cheers, ant:)
