Holiday Flights

Can anyone tell me if you can get good last minute deals at the holidays? I wanted to fly from Detroit to San Diego for New Year's Eve but tickets are way high. Any chance I'll find a sale or is everything sold out already? Which web sites should I watch? Thanks!

Most flights are full around the holidays, that's why the remaining seats are so expensive. Hence the odds of a last minute sale are slim to none.

Kayak list RT fares (with random return date of a week later) for just under $400 - don't know about specifics of your schedule, but that does not seem too bad a fare.

If you're trying to fly non-stop, it looks like Northwest is the only airline so with no competition, the price is over $700. But if you're willing to change planes there are some options under $500 some of the best on Delta out of Toledo. Go to kayak.com

Thanks gail....$400 sounds good. I'll check it out.
