Hoh Rainforest-Places to Stay
I will be flying in from Florida meeting some friends that live in Everett. We would like to take a long weekend and see the ONP, mainly the Hoh and the beaches around Mora and I would like some opinions on where to stay. I am not sure how far a drive it is from the Hoh to Mora. I would like to stay closer to the rainforest for a couple of days and then maybe by the beaches for a couple of days. We dont need luxury or high dollar places, just something clean and close by. There would be 4 adults and 3 kids. Any ideas out there? Thank you!

Accommodation around the coastasl strip of Olympic National Park is extremely scarce - really just one or two places on the coast, a few near Lake Quinault, but otherwise one is limited to the towns on the northern or southern edge of the park for more resources - Forks, Ocean Shores, areas like that.
The good news is that it really doesn't take all that long to drive along 101 to get to the turnoffs to the various scenic areas; in some cases they're right next to the highway, in others a 5-20 min. side trip. Not certain but I'd guess Mora campground to the Hoh visitor center would be maybe 30 min.
You don't say when this will be, but be aware that because of this shortage in accommodation, the chances to get good rooms (and don't worry, there's no luxury or high dollar places period, so no worries on that front) on short notice for a weekend in summer are pretty poor. I would proabably focus on Forks for the time being, or Lake Quinault, and see where that takes you.

Sorry for not including the dates! We are trying to plan for the weekend of July 29th. I did call Ocean Shores Resort yesterday and they had a couple of Motel rooms left! Anyone ever stay there? I will definitely check out Forks to see what accomadations might still be open. I really didnt realize by looking at the ONP map that it would all be a decent driving time to each other! Thanks so much for the info! We originally thought about tent camping, but Ocean Resort said they dont have that anymore and most are first come first serve. Anyone camp at the Hoh Rainforest campground?

Ocean Shores will be the better part of an hour to the Hoh turnoff, but given your schedule I wouldn't dally with making a booking, even if you cancel or change it later if you find something better.

Hi, we stayed in ocean shores at the best western lighthouse inn and suites, right on the ocean, very clean, nicely (and newly) redecorated, just a cut above the rest, and the price was still great. We hated to leave as its one of the nicest BW's we've stayed in, and BW is among our fave moderate hotel chains on our cross country road trips. You can also ride horses on the beach (one of the widest we've ever seen).
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies! Oops, I meant to say Ocean Park at LaPush! Has anyone tent camped at the Hoh or around there? Is there any place near there that will take a reservation? I would hate to fly from Florida and try to camp and not get the first come first serve site.
