Hog's Breath in Carmel, CA

Is this place still around? And does Clint Eastwood still own it? Last time I was there it was closed due to some sort of dispute between him and another partner. I'm coming to town with a fan of his who would enjoy the idea of stopping by his place for a drink. Thanks!

Still around, don't know if it's still owned by Clint Eastwood but some dishes are still called Dirty Harry. Here's a web site with hours and a virtual tour. http://www.hogsbreathinn.net/

Clint Eastwood sold his interest in this property about three years ago.If you want to visit a restaurant/bar that he presently owns then visit The Mission Ranch at the end of Dolores st.

thanks Lovejoy! Great idea!

Lovejoy is correct - Clint Eastwood no longer owns the Hog's Breath. However, it is still located in the "Eastwood" Building and still is an interesting place with pretty good food.

There is another property in Carmel that is owned by another movie star - Doris Day. It is the Cypress Inn. Place serves only dinner.

Have a good time in Carmel! Fun place!

We live on the Monterey Peninsula. Above posters are correct about the HOGS BREATH.

You should try to visit MISSION RANCH while in the area. Great location. They are open for lunch on weekends and the back patio is great spot for a burger and views. Dinner is also good there. Casual atmosphere. Piano bar. Located behind the Carmel Mission. And yes, Clint still owns this one.

Another great spot to eat is BAHAMA BILLYS in the Barnyard. Just take my word for this one. You will not be disappointed.

The Cypress Inn serves dinner? The last time I was there were no meals other than a continental breakfast served in the library. Have they completed their remodel? I love this hotel!!

As far as I know The Cypress Inn does not serve dinner. They serve Breakfast for guests/an Afternoon Tea,and have a Cocktail lounge open to the public.

I called the Cypress Inn because I remembered having dinner there once upon a time.

Yes, they served dinner - about 15-20 years ago!

Guess I'm really dating myself! LOL!

They do have teatime, tho, between 2 - 3:45pm and at $15/pp.

Trust me - it was a very romantic dinner, seems like yesterday ... :)

Jason888 -- that's too funny! And I was worried that I may have been out of the loop since I hadn't been there in 3 or 4 years! I did see on their website that they are adding on so maybe they'll bring the dinners back for you!

Thank you, Babette, for that sweet thought!

Hope so too! :)

Hog's Breath is filled with tourists who go there to buy the tshirts and baseball caps. It has horrible food, watered down drinks, and generally horrible slow service. I could understand people putting up with all that just to say they went to Clint Eastwood's bar, but since he no longer owns it, why do they continue? Is it just to say they went to a place that used to be Clint Eastwood's bar?

Calgirl, I share your opinion of Hog's Breath, based on a deeply mediocre lunch about 6 years ago. I can only assume that word of the ownership change hasn't gotten around outside the immediate area, and if I were the new owner, I'd keep it quiet, too!
