Will be taking a cab, any recommendations for something to do (shopping, dining) within about 10 miles of Hobby? Thanks

There is a Hobby airport in Houston. Is that it?

Hobby is not exactly in a desirable area. The immediate environment is pretty shabby at best. Depending on how much time you have you an cab into Houston's museum district (20-30 minute ride) or shopping in the Galleria (30-40 minute ride) or jaunt over to Johnson Space Center (30 minutes or so.) If you will be there more than a few hours you might be better off renting a car - cabs are not cheap in Houston, nor particularly convenient away from the airport. You can't hail one on the street, have to call and hope they show up in the promised time.

Sorry, I thought it was understood Hobby Airport--next time I will be more precise. Thanks for your input, probably will rent a car.
