Hilton Waikoloa with 3 kids
Has anybody tried to put 3 kids and 2 adults in a room at the Hilton Waikoloa or Hapuna Prince? Our kids are 12, 9 & 6, and reservations told us we were not allowed to have that many people in one room. Can we get away with it or will we run into trouble?

I don't know about those hotels in particular but many hotels draw the line at four people per room. I don't know how easy it would be to get away with five instead of four. Your kids are pretty old now and I would think your family size would be fairly obvious to hotel staff. I have a large family myself and am just resigned to the fact that we have to pay for more than one room.
If you look around, you can almost certainly find some Big Island hotels offering an attractive rate on a second room under a family plan. Frankly, you'd be much more comfortable anyway with two rooms! |
Stayed at the Hapuna Prince and will tell you the rooms are nice size but 5 would make it more than warm & czy.

If they won't allow it, your best bet would be to bid on two rooms on Priceline.com. I have seen some people get a bid there for $125, up to around $140 pn.

We had five in the waikoloa in 2000 - the boys were 10 and 12; had a friend join for 4 nights and they were happy to provide a rollaway. but, yes, it was cramped.
