Hilton San Francisco Financial District
 

I've reserved the Hilton San Francisco Financial District for a 5-night stay beg. November.

Is this hotel in a good location in relation to public transportation and for getting to places in the surrounding areas by foot?

Sorry don't know the hotel specifically, but the financial district is very central.

My favorite San Francisco restaurant(s) are nearby... at 'Belden Place'.

Hi Versus, the Hilton in the Financial District is on Kearny between Broadway and California. I believe it use to be a Holiday Inn.

You will not be as close to public trasportation as you would be if you were staying at the Hilton by Union Square.

But if you like to walk in SF (I sure do)you will be fine. I have no idea where you want to go to in SF. You sure can walk to Union Square, the Embarcadero, North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf, NobHill etc. Well I could so assume you can. The CableCars run along California from the Embarcadero to VanNess. I have never taken the buses but your hotel can give you info regarding their routes.

PS, like Suze I love the restaurants at Belden Place especially Plouf's. If you love mussels do go there.

Have a wonderful time in SF., your location is just fine.

I stayed there last May--we walked from the Montgomery BART station (with bags). It is on the edge of Chinatown--which we love. We walked to PacBell (sorry, SBC) Park for the Giants game, then took a cab back. If you know your way around (or have a good map) it's a great hotel--we had a view of Coit Tower and the bay.

Bus lines 1, 15, 30, 45, depends where you want to go.

for the same price, can yu get closer to unio9n square or the ferry building?

it's got over 500 rooms and i find the chinatown area seedy, especially after dark and especially that kind of weird stretch near the hotel entrance.

if you're getting a great rate then fine, but i hope you're not paying a lot.

Great location for access to North Beach and the Financial District, Chinatown too. Some of the streets around there are a little deserted late at night. I myself don't walk the Chinatown stretch of Grant Avenue late in the evening - once the stores close, it's very lonely. The Financial District can also be rather dark and canyon-like at night, although Montgomery Street usually has late-shift office workers coming down the street until 11:00 or so.

Kerikeri, I got this hotel from a priceline bid of $119/night. I had checked hotels and rates in the area and they were a lot pricier. I was bidding for Union Square East and this one is apparently in the area in priceline's database.
