Hilton San Francisco and Towers
 

Has anyone stayed at the Hilton San Francisco & Towers. I have heard mixed reviews. I have a rate of $95us. Is this a good deal...what about the location?

It is way too big IMHO, 1900 rooms!! The rate you can probly do better at another hotel.The area is OK.Yes, fringe of Union Square/mid tenderloin.But too BIG!!

I stayed there in 2001. It was a good location, and the room was clean and comfortable. The front desk is very efficient. However, the place is huge, and not a cozy or romantic sort of place. It's more of a convention hotel.

I paid way more than $95/night, but that was before 9/11...

Heather, we stayed there over Memorial Day weekend for 4 days. Booked it thru Priceline. Bid $65.00 per night. When all said & done, with taxes, fees, etc, cost us $300.00 for 4 days.

They put us in Tower 2 and asked us if we wouldn't mind a handicap room. No problem -- huge room, huge bathroom. We were more than pleased. Didn't spend another penny at the Hilton. There is so much around the area for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and ((b)).

I agree, you can get a better deal elsewhere. As far as the location, it's not the best as you are very close to the seedy parts of downtown (Tenderloin and Union Square).

I haven't stayed there for years, but when I did, my first room's air conditioning was broken. I requested and got another room but had to leave for a business meeting. The bellman who was moving my clothes left a suit behind and it "disappeared" for 36 hours, until if was finally found in lost and found -- wrinkled and dirty. The hotel did clean it for free.
During that same stay, the hotel changed the locks on all of the rooms on my floor without any advance notice, so I returned to the room and couldn't get in and had to go back down to the front desk.
I wouldn't go back. There are too many other choices.

My parents stayed here back in 2001. They did not like it. The front desk was rude and gave them a hard time during check-in/out. Then they tried to charge them a higher rate and my parents had to write a letter to the hotel and get their money back. This was probably an isolated incident; however, they said they wouldn't stay there again.
