Hilton Newark- Penn Station
If we stayed here, could we take the AirTrain to the hotel (it is my understanding that the AirTrain goes to Penn Station.)
Trip Advisor doesnt give it rave reviews but we are more interested in the easy train access to NYC while husband is on business in New Jersey. |
There are better hotels in NJ with easy access to NYC. Assume your husband will have a car - where in Jersey is his business taking place?
|
His business doings are in Caldwell.
I checked every hotel in Secaucus on NJ Transit bus route #320 and they were sold out. The reason I am leaning towards the Hilton Penn Station is that we are arriving/departing on different flights several hours apart and this location makes it easy for us to travel independently to the hotel/airport. But any other suggestions are appreciated! |
The AirTrain does not go to Newark Penn station. It goes from the airport to the Newark International Airport train station, where you connect to NJTransit or AMTRAK to Newark Penn (or New York Penn or elsewhere).
It's $7.50 each way for the 5 minute NJTransit ride and about 5 minute ride on the AirTrain to terminal. |
Have you tried the Hyatt in Jersey City? Very easy access to the city - and a much pleasanter area.
|
Gawd either pick the Hyatt Jersey City, The Doubletree or the Sheraton Weehauken.
I'd get out of Newark. |
Thanks, I realized today that the Air Train goes to the Newark train station, not Penn Station.
I have decided on a whole different scheme, we will stay at the Grand Summit in Summit, NJ. Train station near the hotel, about a 50 minute ride to NYC; 10 miles drive West Caldwell. Summit sounds like a better place for husband to unwind after work than Newark. THANKS for steering me away from Newark! |
