For steak, Del Frisco's is my favorite by far. And very close to your hotel.

I live in NYC, not a fan of subways. I usually cab it, but even I will take a subway to a Yankee game! Easiest way.

Just got back from NY.....We did the subway to the US open....father in law didn't do so well so we took a limo back with another couple who were staying close by. We did a car service to and from Yankee stadium. Never a moment of rest for 4 days......ground zero....sunset cruise around statue of Liberty, etc. First night ate at Sparks restaurant....good food and service but I thought it was a bit overpriced. 2 nights we ate close by at an Italian place called "Gattopardo"......My brother in law loved the place.....it was good but I would have eaten someplace different just to try something new. Walked around Central park and went to the top of the rock. Certainly a very interesting city.....I'm not sure how those cabbies drive like they do without wrecking on a daily basis!!!! On another note....and I don't mean to offend anybody here! .....I was always under the impression that east coast folks were quick and not polite-was just the opposite for me! The new yorkers I met couldn't have been any nicer to me!!!!!! Plus i got top quality service everywhere I went.....was very nice to experience quality customer service for a change!

Sounds like a great trip - except for eating at the same restaurant two nights running!

Yes - New Yorkers are friendly and helpful - as long as you don;t lollygagging front of them when they are rushing to work. (I think the idea of not being friendly comes from small town people who expect to have long personal conversations with service people. That is;t done here since 1) it's unprofessional and 2) it's rude to hold up other customers gossiping)

As for service - yes, people here know good service and expect it in upscale places.

I regret not taking the open bus tour all over the city........I will def do that next time. 4 days just isn't enough time to see NY....Plus, the US open killed one full day.
