Hilton Head Restaurants

My husband and I are going to Hilton Head for a week starting next weekend. No kids, just us. Looking for great seafood restaurants that would cater more to adults. We'd love some recommendations for nice spots that lean toward upscale.

We have been vacationing on Hilton Head Island for over 20 years and always enjoy dinner out each evening. I would recommend...Charley's Crab, Red Fish, Hemingway's, CQ's, Marleys,Alexander's,Ocean Grill, The Oyster Factory, and the Old Fort Pub. If you do not mind eating during their "early bird" hour you can eat well, for much less money. There are actually many GOOD restaurants on the island. Enjoy your vacation. It will be much less crowded on the island as many vacationers are gone after Labor Day. Wish we were going, too!

From a 26 year island resident:

Upscale Northern Indian: Spice, located in The Village at Wexford. Nothing like the interior this side of Manhattan.

Solid Italian: either Il Carpaccio in Pineland Station or Mulberry Street Trattoria, over the bridge and the first left after the Moss Creek traffic light.

(The island empties after Labor Day.) Enjoy.

Redfish - very good, high energy, noisy. Catch 22 - smaller, quieter. CQs - very good, pricey, caters to older crowd. Sage Room - smaller, high energy, open kitchen, rich food, rich prices.

Alligator Grill is not mentioned and has an adult setting with good food. The Sunset Grill is on the west end of the island. Fine food, intimate setting. Be sure and have reservations. Do a little mapquest before taking the trip, not on the main drag. Truffles on and off the island is good food.

We weren't impressed with Alligator Grille. Plus, a roach ran across the seat at the first table they tried to give us. The hostess then asked if we'd like to switch tables. DUH!

My hubby & I are not old :), but we love CQ's in Harbourtown; last visit to HH, we stayed at the Inn at Harbourtown, which is within walking distance; of course, it rained the night we went there & the Inn provided complimentary transportation for us. (Still trying to find the Gerwurtzraminer that I had with the wonderful seafood meal!).

Hey Brian in Charlotte,,,,,I hope you mean older people, age 90+, like CQ!!! Granted we are not young, but our 16 year certainly did not complain about the food at CQ! (: Of course he likes "adult" style restaurants especially since we pick up the bill!
