Hilton Head Restaurants
 

We are going to Hilton Head later this month and would like to know what restaurants have Early Bird specials. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you

Shiloh...<BR><BR>I go to Hilton Head every June. Two restaurants that we enjoy that have early bird specials are Cafe Europa by the lighthouse in Harbour Town and Fratello's on William Hilton Parkway. Both have excellent food and the prices of the early bird, I believe, are under $15. Also, the Hilton Head Restaurant Guide has a list of others that offer early bird specials. You can pick this up almost anywhere on the island. Enjoy your trip!

Shiloh,<BR><BR>There are about 50 restaurants offering early bird deals on Hilton Head. The restaurant guide is the best way to find them. They fill 2 pages in the guide.

ditto on the restaurant guide. We used it every night we were there to look at menus of pretty much every restaurant on the island. At the bottom there is even a review of the each place by the publisher. And yes there is a seperate section in the back I believe that lists all Early bird restaurants and what the special is. It also will give the Happy Hour specials too. These guides are at pretty much any grocery store entrance, shopping areas, hotel info tables, etc. <BR>have fun!

Living here I would say that the majority of the places that have "early birds" do so because their food is not good enough to sell at regular prices. For a good meal try Charley's Crab, Two-Eleven Park, or Micheal Anthony's...also Hinoki for Sushi!

<BR>Shiloh,<BR><BR>As you are aware, restaurants run early bird specials to cater to the older crowd that eats earlier, and lighter, than the regular crowd, and looks for a little financial relief as well.<BR>That's exactly why the restaurants do it on Hilton Head. Acclaimed restaurants with excellent reputations for their cuisine are among those who provide early birds: Cafe Maxx, Brian's, and Cafe Europa are just a basic few. There are several others.

Cafe Europa? Known Island Wide as a great view and horrible food. Cafe Maxx does have a good rep and I personally have had good apps there. If you just want cheap...try happy hours at Aunt Chilada's or Captn Woody's. Also Reilley's has good pub food as does the British Open Pub. For excellent sea bass, smother shrimp, pork chops, and other southern food try two eleven park, also offer half portions.

I thought Cafe Europa had great food. I guess its just a matter of personal preference. (Note: Do not order the seafood streudel....not good!) Everything else was great.

British Open Pub has really good food.

Hilton Head restaurants are all touristy. I have yet to find someplace worth returning to and we go twice a year for the last 15 years.

Jill,<BR><BR>I can only guess from your remark that you have not been to either Charlie's L'Etoile Verte by the entrance to Palmetto Dunes (next to Santa Fe Cafe and in front of Taste of Thai, or La Spiaggia, next to New York Pizza on Pope Avenue.<BR>Try one or both next time you visit and see if your opinion changes. Neither are touristy, and neither advertise. They are 'locals' places and trade on word of mouth.<BR>Shiloh, I didn't mention these two before because they do not have Early Birds.
