Hilton Head Lodging
Hey gang...we are going to the Beaufort area for a triathlon on March 14 - March 16. We want to stay in Hilton Head and want to stay under $125 a night...doesnt have to be the nicest place but we don't want to stay in a rach motel either...haha
Any recommendations? |
You do know that Hilton Head is about 45 miles and an hour's drive from Beaufort.
In Hilton Head there's a Day's Inn and a Holiday Inn that might be within your price range. |
The ride to Hilton Head is very manageable but the lodging is not cheap. Try the Salty Dog in South Beach (sbinn.com, I think). They have lodging at the South Beach Marina that is New England-like but nice and clean.

Yes, I do think you'd like the Salty Dog Inn; the managers actually let us view a couple of the rooms on our last stay & they seem very well kept; try to get a view of the water if you can. Bicycle rentals are available right there (which is fun for tooling around the area - lot of bike paths) & there are shops/restaurants.
We actually stayed at the Inn at Harbourtown, which offers special rates under their Island Indulgence package; it was fantastic, but not sure that's what you'd want on this trip. Another fun area (besides the Seapines resort) is Shelter Cove. |
Triathlons, can you not find cheaper lodging in Beaufort? Try something off I-95.
It is St.Patrick's Weekend and Hilton Head is overflow for that so I don't think you'll find anything reasonable there that weekend. |
There is a Red Roof Inn and Hampton Inn on Hilton Head that would meet your target price, but are not on the beach.
Holiday Inn is a good option as well. |
We got terrific rates a couple of years ago at the Hilton resort via Priceline. It is a long haul to Beaufort, depending on where you stay on the island. More than likely, it will be too cold & windy to go to the beach, more like golf weather.

I got a great last minute rate on hotels.com for Thanksgiving weekend last year.
