Hilton Head Bicycle Rental

Hello all

My wife and I will be in Hilton Head for Jan/Feb this year and we wish to rent bicycles during our stay.

There are several companies on the island that offer bicycle rentals . Can anybody recommend one company over the other?

Thank you
PP

Sorry for the half answer but I can never remember the correct name. We always get a coupon from the small tourist advertisement "magazine" after finding that there are a limited number of owners who operate under several different names. The bikes always seem the same and all offer free locks. Have a great winter-many of us are zealous! Haggling (my downfall) always seems appropriate.

The magazine cheapbutnice references is the activities version of the dining-shopping-golf-leisure books that are outside every shop and restaurant. Several rental deals are in the magazine. If a good price is available at a rental location nearby your lodging, go for close so that if something goes wrong, you are nearby. Most rental companies offer delivery. Often your neighborhood rental will match the better deals in the magazine.

I also agree with cheapbutnice that the bikes are the same everywhere.

I'll agree--bikes are pretty well all the same and so are the prices, so rent a bike close to where you're staying. Be careful crossing the streets, too. Drivers in Hilton Head aren't exactly as accomodating as they are in Sanibel (as we found out to our dismay!). Always look both ways and don't expect any drivers to cut you a break. They're looking at scenery, not at you.

Thanks for the good advice. I'll look for the "magazine coupon" and rent from someone in our "neighbourhood".
