Hilton DFW Lakes Hotel - Grapevine TX

Has anyone stayed here? I tried to get reservations at Embassy Suites and Amerisuites, but they were already booked. The Hilton reservation lady said they were right across the street from the mall. She said their property included 20 acres with 2 pools and a lake.

We're staying there due to the Games of Texas competion my daughter is scheduled for.

I haven't stayed there, but here are some reviews (not that many, unfortunately)

It's fine, but older and more of a, well, Hilton.
Try these:
SPRINGHILL SUITES DFW NORTH (nice)
HOMEWOOD SUITES DALLAS GRAPEVINE
RAMADA LTD GRAPEVINE
HAMPTON INN STES DFW GRAPEVINE
They are all close. You will have a car, right?
What is your check in/out dates?
If you have a car, there is a nice LaQuinta on 114, which is close to Grapevine, too.
Loads of nice possible options on Hwy 114.

If you can get a deal, the Gaylord Texan is nearby and I hear it's marvelous.

I think the Hampton Inn & Suites across the highway is closed.

What's your daughter's event? My kids do swim team but I could tell from their times that they wouldn't make state from our region, so we skipped regionals and went to the Hyatt Hill Country for the weekend!

Hey, I checked their website and you can get a standard room that weekend at the Gaylord Texan for $129 a night. That's a great rate for this brand new, fabulous resort. Let me know if you need restaurant recommendations in Grapevine or Southlake.

TxTravelPro Jul 13th, 2004 02:04 PM

Nope, the Hampton is open.
The Gaylord is wonderful... My office is just down the street and everyone loves staying there but they kind of nickle and dime you. 129.00 plus parking, which is like 10.00 day.
If you are not on a budget, it would be a fun place for your family.

TxTravelPro, which is the hotel across 121 from Grapevine Mills that is now fenced and closed?

TxTravelPro Jul 13th, 2004 02:10 PM

BTW... Hotwire still has great deals for the DFW North area.
29.00 -110.00

TxTravelPro Jul 13th, 2004 02:11 PM

Hmmm... I am not sure which one that was. Maybe Red Roof?

mlarson Jul 13th, 2004 02:18 PM

My arrival date is July 22nd and check out is July 25th.

My daughter is in the long jump girls 12U.

Rate at Hilton DFW Lakes is $115/nite. Don't mind paying a little extra if the Gaylord Texan is that much better. Is it close to mall also? What makes it so much better?

Homewood Suites already booked.

Thanks for all the tips!

The Hawthorn Suites has a rate available of 79.00 and they have a hot b'fast. It's on 114.
No cost for parking, too.
You could spend all that extra money on a great meal in Grapevine or more stuff at the mall!

mlarson Jul 14th, 2004 07:28 AM

Is the Hawthorne Suites nice? Is it a fairly new facility? I'm not familiar with Hawthorne chain, so just wanted to know how it compares. What chain would you say it compares to?

TxTravelPro Jul 14th, 2004 08:08 AM

Well, I would say that this one is less than 4 years old. All the hotels in this little strip are pretty new...
This one is like a Hampton but the rooms are "suites" and the breakfast includes hot items.
At that rate it is a bargain!
