Hilo lodging?
We are looking for lodging in the Hilo area for a few days in September. Any recommendations?
Thanks! |
How about the Palms Cliff House which is just north of Hilo? http://www.palmscliffhouse.com/ It is a lovely place though pricy. If you would provide a price range and give us some idea of what you like--hotel, b&b--I'm sure you'll get some other suggestions.

How many people? What price range?

Hilo hotels are very average, more like highrise motels. We stayed at a well kept oceanfront B&B in town with king bed around $145, not sure if they take kids.

suezan, are you SURE you want to stay in Hilo? I'd either stay in Volcsno Village or go on over to the Kohala Coast ... see the sights around Hilo on day trips. Hilo itself is not my idea of a vacation spot.

We stayed at the Waterfalls Inn (google it for website) during our honeymoon and thought it was lovely. Didn't mind the drive to VNP at all. Stayed there two nights to explore VNP and that side of the island, then moved over to the Kohala (sp?) coast for the rest of our Big Island stay.

Ditto the BayHouse. Stayed in the palm room. Great B&B.

Aloha,
I like staying in Volcano Village when I am Hilo side. Hilo is a tad tired and Volcano Village is darling. You can get into Hilo in under 30 mins. Nice B&B is My Island B&B. There are also little affordable houses you could rent. http://www.halekonakai-hkk.com/house...dium/index.htm is one. |
We stayed in Hilo for 4 nights in April and loved it - due in part to the beautiful bandb

We really enjoyed our stay in Hilo .... not that touristy like Kona. Stayed at the Castle Hio Hawaiian..bay view, economical and good location. Also stayed at the Volcano House .. a good place to stay if you want to hike in the park or do a day hike to the Green Sand Beach.
