hiking south west florida

Im reading a great little book on day hiking in southwest florida by Johnny Molloy, it is set around Naples, Sanibel and Fort Myers and has some nice little walks that should serve as an introduction to some of the wildlife in that area. It got me wondering whether Florida has the equivalent of our Ramblers Association (UK) which enable like minded people to come together to do some walking with the help of a guide?

I've used "meetup" to find hiking groups when i travel. Not sure if there is a group in the SW Florida area, but you can check.

By all means check out The Conservancy of Southwest Florida in Naples. It's NOT a tourist thing, but a working nature conservancy group. I think you might enjoy visiting their "sanctuary" for injured animals and they DO some swamp and other nature hikes with naturalists. Not exactly what you're asking here, but sure worth a look.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Many thanks for introducing me to Meetup - I had never heard of it and its full of potential on a number of fronts not just walking in Florida.
