Hiking on Maui
 

Our family is headed to Maui in a couple of days for 8 days starting January 5th. We plan to do a lot of hiking. Is it realistic to do most hiking with running shoes or hiking sandals? We're trying to avoid bringing hiking boots. I would anticipate most of the hikes we will want to do (based on range of interests) will be 4-6 miles...possibly more (depending on the crater hike). Appreciate the guidance.

I think you would regret wearing hiking boots on Maui! You'll be fine with running shoes or hiking sandals.
