Hiking in Mid-Coast Maine
 

Looking for some hikes to do in the Bath/Brunswick area of Maine. Hikes of a couple hours or so -- no all dayers--would be great. Any suggestions? Thanks

Not really hiking country at all, in my experience. Cycling, yes, hiking, no. Kayakinf, you betcha. Hiking, no.



There are many, many narrow and picturesque roads, but none that I have ssen would be suitable for walking. The area is full of islands, and many of these have irregular shorelines so tha two points that are visible from each other may require quite a long time to visit.

You might, in all humility, google Bowdoin College looking for an outing club. Their advice might be better than mine.

Camden: Mt Battie
Boothbay: Maine Coastal Gardens - more of a nice walking trail

Here are the results from a google search. Quite a few walking trails.

Wolf's Neck Woods in Freeport, Morse Mountain, Popham Beach and
Reid Beach in the Bath area. The beaches and Morse are more fun at low tide.

We like the short, easy hike to Owls Head Light near Rockland. You can also take a trail down to a stoney beach.
