Hiking in Hana

What are some of the best spots in along Hana to hike? Love to see waterfalls.
Thanks

My favorite spot is not IN Hana but near it. Near the 7 Pools is Pipiwai Trail leading to Waimoku Falls - beautiful!

Ditto CajunStorm.

Can we hike Oheo Gulch and Pipiwai Trail in one day? Are these close to each other?
Thanks.

CajunStorm and Yale -
do you think we can do the entire hana highway drive and these hikes too?

`Oheo Gulch itself is not a hike, but a short walk to see the pools. Pipwai Trail is at the gulch, and runs mauka.

I recently broke down a timeline of driving to and activities in the are for someone else here. I'll see if I can find it and top it for you.

The trek down to redsands beach...not a hike really, ...and the trails around blacksands beach, maybe a couple miles each way. The Maui revealed book will tell you about some hikes. Because of those books, it may be difficult to get locals to reveal their favorites, rightfully so. I'd head to the bookstore/library and research.

mike_b12 - you can definitely do the entire drive (even around the other side of the mountain which I recommend) in addition to the hike. It took us 2 hours to hike to Waimoku Falls and get back to the car. We had stayed at the Ritz Carlton last time we did this. Here's what our timeline looked like to give you an idea:

Left the Ritz at 7:30am
Stopped at Honolua Store for water, snacks, sandwiches
Stopped and made very short hike to Blue Pool (along Hana Road)
Stopped at hiked to Waimoku Falls
Drove around other side of mountain and got back to Ritz around 5:00pm

Now, this was NOT our first drive along Hana Road. So we purposefully skipped a bunch of the waterfall stops and views along the way just so we'd have time to the Pool and Falls hike. If you're wanting to make a lot of stops you can still do it but it might take longer. Good luck!
