Hikes, history, fun things to do near Huntington Beach...

Do you have any suggestions on day hikes, historical places to see or just plan fun things to do in or around Huntington Beach?

Rent bikes at the beach and ride the path which is one of the best beach bike paths in the country. Have lunch or dinner at Duke's which is at the pier. Go south a few miles to Newport Beach and take a Harbor boat tour. You could also rent Kayaks and tour the harbor. Also one of the most beautiful outdoor upscale shopping areas is "Fasion Island" which is located on PCH. Go further south to Laguna Beach and enjoy this artistic community which is a visual treat by anyone's standards If you wish to go north of Huntington Beach, you could go to the Long Beach -San pedro area and take the "Catalina Flyer" which is a boat ride over to Catalina Island which is a fun day trip. Long Beach also has the "Queen Mary" and a nice aquarium in the same area. Make sure that you have a good map for these areas and have fun!!

Eat at Rubys Diner on the end of the Huntington Beach pier. Inexpensive & an incredible view! Dukes is also very good. Walk the Bolsa Chica wetlands. Checkout downtown Huntington Beach. We like to take the ferry from Balboa Penninsula(Newport Beach)across to Balboa Island & walk around the island.

Hi donnae ~

Eat breakfast at The Sugar Shack. Yum, I can taste their pancakes now.

It is located on the main street down from the Pier. If you were walking from the Pier, it is on the left side.

Definitely worth it, if you are nearby. It has been there forever and their breakfasts are fantastic!

Every Tuesday night main street, near PCH is closed to cars and the city has a street market, lots of food, music and crafts - it is a lively time with a lot of people

Another excellent beach hike begins at the south end of Corona del Mar. The beach path goes all the way to Laguna Beach. You might get lucky and find a parking place on the street, if not you must pay for parking in the official lot.

Oysters at MacArthur and PCH and Las Brisas in Laguna are two good restaurants. The patio behind Las Brisas for the casual menu and beautiful view is an excellent cocktail destination.
