hesitation between two hotels
1) Excuse my English
2) I am planning a one-month trip in Florida for next fall. My wife and me (no kids). For a short week in Orlando, I hesitate between Portofino Bay hotel and Hyaat Regency Grand Cypress (and eventually the Wyndham Palace and Spa). Need any advice
Thanks
Charles

Charles
1) Your English is fine....much better than my French!
2) I can't advise on hotels...but
3) If it's available to you...a very helpful book on Disney and surrounding area is "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World." It gives lots of information about hotels, restaurants and things to see and do.
4) Have a wonderful time in Florida!

Cher Charles,
Portofino is lovely, however we found it to be a bit loud and busy, since it is right on the site of Universal Studios. Fall may be a bit quieter. I stayed at Grand Cypress and loved it!It is close to Disney, but it gives you a sense of quiet separation. The only negative here is that it can sometimes be busy with conventioneers.Bon chance, mon ami et bienvenue aux Etats-Unis!

Charles,
The Grand Floridian is our favorite. It is right on the monorail that you pick up right in the lobby of the hotel. You can park your rental car and not worry about. Very pretty IMO.

I read and re-read Charles question and I don't see one word about planning a visit to Disney. Why does everyone assume that a trip to Orlando would include Wallet World? ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Charles to joelle ([email protected]):
Indeed, visiting Wallet World is not my main goal in Orlando. I'll be there because I have a piece of work to do there with a lot of free time. I have read in my guide book trhere are many lakes to visit (canooing...). So I think that an hotel like Hyatt regency grand cypress is a good choice. What is your opinion?
Charles
|
Charles, Glad you will be visiting us in the Sunshine State. I highly recommend the Hyatt Grand Cypress. It is lovely and somewhat secluded. The rooms are grandly decorated and the grounds are well-maintained. I do not recommend the Wyndham Palace. I have stayed at a lot of Orlando hotels, and the Hyatt is one of my favorites. Have fun and enjoy, Linda
